It’s amazing how far digital photography has come in the last decade! When the technology first came out many photographers were very skeptical and they believed that it was going to destroy the world of photography forever and they were scared that everyone was going to be able to become a photographer and remove any kind of professionalism associated with this art form. We all know this isn’t the case and in fact digital photography has done more for the world of photography than anything else in history.

What we’ve come to realize is that digital photography and print photography have been split into two different categories and that neither of the two are better than each other. Going back to that belief that many photographers had about digital photography ruining any form of professionalism, this is of course not the case. There are many professional digital photographers who do amazing work and use this piece of technology to its fullest extent.

So How Do I Get Involved In Digital Photography?

Well it’s so simple, all you have to do is go out and buy a digital camera and start shooting! No but seriously though, there are some things you have to know first but they are pretty basic. First of all you are going to need to get a camera with a decent lens. Fortunately most professional cameras come digitally nowadays so you shouldn’t have any problem finding one. The benefit of having a camera with a great lens is that you will have the ability to focus on different things in your shots. This is the real art of photography, being able to show something that stands out and has meaning. That meaning you will of course have to find and explain yourself through your pictures.

Benefits of Digital Photography

There are many benefits of digital photography but perhaps the most obvious is that you will have the ability to see what you have taken and choose whether or not it is worth keeping or discarding. The second benefit is that you can also upload your pictures onto your computer so you can edit and change them around. There are lots of different pieces of photo editing software out there that allow you to do amazing things.

Digital photography can be a lot of fun and it can be frustrating. There will times where your camera won’t focus fast enough, images are blurry, or eyes will come out red. Each digital photography tip below will help you to cure these and other common frustrations.

Shoot Lots of Pictures

One of the best things about digital photography is that there is no cost associated with taking a picture. With traditional film photography you had to buy film and pay for development. Take advantage of this digital photography tip by taking multiple shots of the same scene. You can always delete the bad ones later.

Learn Your Cameras Settings

Here’s a digital photography tip to use after you’ve taken the picture. Many things can be cleaned up by doing some post-processing. Many tools are available that allow you to edit your photos. Each tool is different, but correcting red-eye is usually pretty straight forward. More advanced techniques (creating depth of field by blurring the background, removing unwanted items from the picture, etc.) also come in handy.

Finally here is a simple one.  Never shift gears until you come to a complete stop.You will be shocked at how many people do ruin their vehicles because they shifted the gear while the car was in motion.  I am not because we see it all the time in our Carlsbad auto repair shop.People will have their cars brought in and they will have ruined transmissions because of this very thing.

Finally, you can then play your dark magician card to have an even higher attack power!

I’ve got to admit it.Ever since I found lighting effects for DJ work, I’ve become a lighting freak.If you are new to DJ lights, this article will be for you.With that being the assumption, let’s begin with some basic info and go from there.

Virtually all DJ lighting unit are sound activated.That means you can just plug the unit into an outlet, point it in the desired direction, set it to respond to sound, blast the music, and let it run.However, you have to think this one out before going any further. 

Note that many lighting units get blisteringly hot, so you must be careful that no injuries occur.We’re using a red hot device running on house current, so safety is first.If you decide to suspend any of the lights, as you often will, be completely sure that you use every safety procedure to make certain they don’t crash down on someone’s head.And be careful that you don’t overload any circuits!It is humiliating to get everyone fired up for the first dance, flip on your lighting units, and have the whole thing crash after five seconds when a breaker trips and ends the show.Don’t overload any circuits and let all your gear operate at once for some time before the event starts.

When you position your lights you need to make sure every light that is set to respond to the music can hear it properly.This usually isn’t an issue, especially indoors, but it does mean that you need to check out the locations by actually testing the units with the sound up.

Take this suggestion to heart: Consider only buying lights that are DMX units.  DMX is a protocol that is used to control the lights from some type of programmable board or software interface.What this means is that you can program the lighting units from a lighting board or other control device that interfaces with a computer.This means you’ll need to run a control cable to each lighting unit or use some form of wireless control, but you’ll love the creativity this gives you, and you’ll be eager to add this to your shows.

Lastly, it is importatnt to consider the personality and appearance of a DJ you are considering hiring. It is also important that you feel confident that the DJ is going to work with you to give you what you want, as opposed to trying to bend you to his or her personal preferences.

What is Stock Photography?

Another way is to find a freelance photographer over there to get the pictures you need, but this would probably be expensive. The third, and best option, is to purchase stock photography. Stock Photography Advantages

The biggest advantage of stock photography is that you can get images at a fraction of the cost of using your own photographer or a freelance photographer. Stock photography is comprised of two types of images: royalty-free and rights-managed, or RM. A lot of stock photography websites offer royalty-free and RM images. Royalty free images are often less expensive than rights managed images, but you will find that Royalty Free images will also be published by hundreds of other publishers because of this and the reduced restrictions of use.

Rights managed stock photographs are not as widely published. The price for using the image is usually based on whether or not you want exclusive use of the photo, what size the photo will be when it’s published, and the number of publications it will appear in. For example, a 1/5-page shot on an inside page of your magazine will be cheaper than if you were to use the photo on the cover. Also, if your magazine has a circulation of 50,000, the photo will cost less than if you had a magazine circulation of 1,000,000.

Another big advantage of stock photography is the ability to view and instantly download stock images. You dont have to wait for prints or negatives to be sent to you. You can easily view all of the available photographic images and download the ones that you want, usually at whatever resolution you need. The images are digital so there will be no reduction in quality.
